As the official mascot of Smart Destinations, I’m thrilled to bring you my favorite spots in Boston. Voted the top dog-friendly city in America by DogFriendly.com, there’s a special stop for every pooch to enjoy!
To begin your Boston experience, book a room at the Onyx Hotel, a luxury dog-friendly hotel in the heart of downtown. Check out their special amenities just for pets. I’m excited for the gourmet dog cookies!
Grab some fresh air while visiting the , a three-mile long park on the bank of the Charles River. You might even make some new friends!
For a special indulgence, visit the Polka Dog Bakery, “a treat boutique for dogs.” They take great pride in their all-natural treats from doggie treatza pizza to carob chip puppy dough! I’m drooling just thinking about them! You can even pick up a few new city-chic accessories to impress those back home!
At The Dish, Red Fez, and the Kinsale Irish Pub, doggies are welcome on the outside patios so you can have your meal with the whole family! There’s also a doggie brunch every Saturday at Tremont 647 from 2:00 – 5.00 p.m.! Now, if only they made doggie mimosas…

A big brunch is a delicious way to start off a weekend of sightseeing. The right restaurant will give you a mouth-watering taste of the unique neighborhoods in Boston. Whether you want a bowl of comforting New England Clam Chowder, a French twist to breakfast, or, and my personal favorite, the best french toast in Boston, here is a list of brunch places that will jump start your vacation, conveniently located near must-see attractions.
- Sel De La Terre, an elegant bistro, offers a taste of France through their renowned artisan pastries and bread. Nestled on the Boston waterfront, next to the New England Bay Aquarium, you can enjoy an adventurous blend of American and French cuisine and then head over to check out the indigenous and exotic sea life.
- Who says you have to get dressed for breakfast? Tremont 647 encourages its patrons to dine in their pajamas - in fact, even the cute waiters dress up in their PJs! You’ll enjoy casual dining and delicious food at this fun and funky restaurant in the heart of Boston’s South End. You may want to get dressed, though, before heading over to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library or to take a tour of the Samuel Adams Brewery. (more…)

From The Boondock Saints and Good Will Hunting to Mystic River and The Departed, Boston is bustling with Hollywood action. These days, it seems as if a regular walk through the Commons or stroll down Newbury street has the potential to turn into a star-studded event!
Here we’ve compiled a few new and notable films that are filming in Boston and some of the spots you’ll see on the big screen.
Gone Baby Gone, to be released October 19, marks Ben Affleck’s directorial debut. Based on a Dennis Lehane novel of the same name, it tells the story of two detectives in search of a 4 year old girl who has been kidnapped in Boston. Starring Casey Affleck and Morgan Freeman, this is sure to be a suspense packed chase around the city.
Some filming took place at the Chart House restaurant on the Waterfront. Located at 60 Long Wharf, the restaurant is inside the four-story brick Gardiner building, built in the 1760s. It’s also near the New England Aquarium and the Provincetown Fast Ferry dock.
The film’s funeral scenes were shot at Mount Auburn Cemetery, which includes the graves of such notables as Buckminster Fuller, Winslow Homer, Amy Lowell, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and Isabella Stewart Gardner. (more…)
