In addition to writing and taking photos during her trips, Jamie loves to find hidden gems, cheap eats, and kitschy Americana attractions. She hails from Oil City, Pennsylvania, went to college in the Finger Lakes Region of New York, studied abroad in Norwich, England, and moved to Boston in May of 2007. She also enjoys writing poetry and lyric essays, reading lots of books, being a foodie, listening to girl group tunes from the 1960s, crafting, and dinner parties with her friends.

Our beloved to meet with the President as an honor that comes with winning the World Series title. Their last visit, , was in 2005 for their previous victory.
Along with schmoozing with the president, the players will also make a stop at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center to pay a visit to the patients. Manager Terry Francona said (about their 2005 visit), “It was humbling. It was an honor to be there. I didn’t hear one [player] say, ‘Hey, let’s [leave].’ Everybody wanted to stay and talk. I’ve heard a lot of the veteran guys telling the younger guys, ‘Hey, this is what you’ll remember about this trip.’

Celebrate Black History Month in Boston with a visit to the and a walk down the .
The museum, with a campus in both Boston and Nantucket, is a great way to explore African American culture and achievements. Start off with a visit to , the first publicly funded grammar school for African American children in the country. The building now houses museum exhibitions and the museum store.
There’s also the , which is the oldest extant black church building in the U.S. built by free African American artisans. It’s been named a National Historic Landmark and is also the final stop on the Black Heritage Trail.
Tours of the Black Heritage Trail are offered daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day, but the trail is certainly walkable without a guide. This outlines all the stops that are on the trail, including the George Middleton House and The Phillips School.

From March 9-14 and 16-21, returns to Boston!
Over 100 of Boston’s best and most celebrated restaurants will be offering 3-course prix-fixe meals at $20.08 for lunch and $33.08 for dinner during Restaurant Week. Every neighborhood in the city has at least a few restaurants participating in the event, so you’re even sure to find something in your neck of the woods to love.
From the eclectic 1920s speakeasy charm of The Beehive in the South End to the classic New England fare of Anthony’s Pier 4, there’s plenty of new spots to check out as well as old favorites to revisit.
Personally, I’d love to hit up Sibling Rivalry, Mare, Sauciety, and head back to Chez Henri for another one of their delectable Cuban sandwiches. Cheers!

Head over to the Harvard Museum of Natural History with your sweetie this Valentine’s Day for a fantastic lecture.
Richard Wrangham will be offering a lecture entitled at 6 pm on Thursday, February 14 focusing on the role that cooked food has played in human evolution and bonding. The lecture is free and open to the public at 24 Oxford Street in the Geological Lecture Hall.
After the lecture, you can put your newfound knowledge to work and make a delicious meal together!
