Our beloved Red Sox will fly to Washington D.C. today to meet with the President as an honor that comes with winning the World Series title. Their last visit, pictured in photos here, was in 2005 for their previous victory.

Along with schmoozing with the president, the players will also make a stop at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center to pay a visit to the patients. Manager Terry Francona said (about their 2005 visit), “It was humbling. It was an honor to be there. I didn’t hear one [player] say, ‘Hey, let’s [leave].’ Everybody wanted to stay and talk. I’ve heard a lot of the veteran guys telling the younger guys, ‘Hey, this is what you’ll remember about this trip.’

Go Red Sox! This story makes me think that spring is getting closer, which brings much needed warm weather…and baseball.

Here’s hoping that spring really is coming soon!

We need some sunshine and warmth in Boston for sure.
