Where to Satisfy your Sweet Tooth in Boston

Boston Cream Pie at Finale

If you’ve got a craving for chocolate or other sugary confections, we’ve got you covered. Here are a few of my favorite places for indulging in dessert.
The ultimate in decadent, picture perfect desserts (see above), Finale Desserterie has four locations in the greater Boston area. Try their Chocolate Paradise for two at their Cambridge location near the Harvard Museum of Natural History or go to their Park Plaza location near Boston Commons and enjoy the Apricot Cinnamon Delight, to name a few of their mouthwatering menu items (selection may vary by location).
Another dessert option is the North End, Boston’s equivalent to Little Italy, which is near the Old North Church. Here you’ll find charming little family-opened bakeries, cozy restaurants, and cobblestoned streets. Mike’s Pastry is always popular and their distinctive white boxes have almost became local icon (they also ship cannolis anywhere in the United States). Lulu’s Bake Shoppe and Modern Pastry are two other local favorites.
For lighter desserts on the go, cupcakes are the perfect portable treat. I recommend The Spotted Apron in Beacon Hill and Kickass Cupcakes in Davis Square. What’s your favorite spot for sugary treats? Leave a comment and let us know!

Wow, that is a gorgeous plate.
You’re right! Finale does dessert like I have never seen outside of Italy.
Don’t forget Ice Cream! Bostonians love it. I recommend JP Licks (local to Boston chain with stores in Davis, Newbury Street/BackBay, Coolidge Corner & Jamacia Plain. Christina’s in Inman, Lizzy’s in Harvard Square & Toscanini’s in Central all are top notch ice cream joints!
And for the fro-yo fans, Berryline in Harvard Square is already making some major buzz!
Shannon, you are soo right! We could write an entire blog post just about Boston-area ice cream and frozen yogurt. I love JP Licks because they have such unusual and inventive flavors like Mojito sorbet or Bailey’s yogurt. Yum!
Finale is fantastic, though a little pricey. Try their selection of port if you’re into that sort of thing, it’s delicious.
Oh, and thanks for using the photo (and giving attribution).
That’s a good point Patrick, they have an excellent selection of wines and ports and are one of the few dessert-only places that are opened late enough at night to top off a night at the movies or a great second date
