Entry with the Go Boston Card
As you walk along the Public Garden to the Gibson House, try to imagine you’re back in 19th-century Boston. The crowds are gone, replaced by a few elegantly dressed couples strolling through the park. The traffic is replaced by the clip-clop of horse-drawn carriages. The truly imaginative can hear a harpsichord playing in the background. Now, turn the corner onto Beacon Street and enter the Gibson House to experience the real thing.
The Gibson House preserves the legacy of the Victorian era. The interiors of the Gibson House are typical of those found in households of upper-middle-class Bostonians during the Victorian period. It has retained its kitchen, laundry, butler’s pantry, and bathrooms, as well as formal rooms and personal quarters, all filled with the Gibsons’ original furniture and personal possessions.
